Meet The Owner
Michael Damico, owner and main operator of Damico Frame & Art Gallery, has 12 years of experience as a professional framer. He has 23 years of experience as a professional and highly accomplished artist. Michael acquired a 10-year career in graphic design before he ever attended college. His personal, academic, and professional studies of various aspects of art and design instilled an attention to detail and strict discipline in his personal art productions. That has carried over into custom picture frames, photo restoration, fine art, giclee prints, and even installations of cherished photos, artwork, and special projects.
Born in Nashville, Michael began displaying a natural talent for the craft at a very early age. What began with pencils and detailed illustrations later developed into representational figurative painting and fine art. Michael received a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies. He also received an Associate Degree in Studio Art from the University of Central Florida in 2005. He continued independently studying art and human anatomy in order to calibrate his skills as a portrait artist. Michael eventually favored oils and acrylics on canvas.
Michael the Artist
“I think the human face is an endless puzzle,” says Michael. “I love cracking codes and when I’m painting faces, the problem solving turns into a form of meditation. Everything in the world vanishes except for the highly complex code right in front of me.”
Despite the greater risk for error, Michael prefers working with large-scale projects because of the opportunity it provides for detail. His philosophy is that the “values of light and dark are the master and that color is the slave to value. If the value is right, the color will work. Without value there is no form.”
Michael is exceptionally intuitive and socially perceptive. As such, he has the unique ability to see through your lens in order to help you discover what you are trying to find. He can sort through your confusion and interpret your needs to you.
As a highly skilled and dynamic artist, his framing designs and concepts are always fresh and original. As a professional framer in Franklin, TN, he is motivated by your satisfaction, high quality products, and the steady process of creating your special projects. Meet Our Sales Associate
Terry Bryson hails from Arnold, Maryland. She graduated cum laude with an associate’s degree in Fine Art from Anne Arundel Community College in 1984. She received her bachelor’s in Fine Art from the University of Maryland College Park in 1987. While in college, Terry began her career in the framing business on a part-time basis. Having been an artist since middle school, she found in framing an outlet for her creativity. It allowed her to utilize her love of color and design to help customers make truly satisfying frame choices. Upon graduation, Terry dove into her career full-time. She has since accumulated 24 years of experience in art and framing while mastering all parts of the process, from building to consulting.
Terry the Artist
Keeping herself immersed in the world of art fuels Terry’s own creativity. While she previously focused on oil pastels – work for which she earned awards and sales – her attention has turned to mixed media collages. She captures photos of interesting items and creates collages from several images. She then adds in found objects, antiques, and various media such as gold leaf, handmade paper, etc. Terry is currently working on a collage series with a Nashville theme and has already completed others focused on Memphis, Hawaii, Florida, Annapolis, and Baltimore.
Terry says that her parents “who are not artists” always encouraged her creativity from a very young age. Today it is her photography that gives inspiration to her art projects. “It’s the photographs I take as I go through life. Having instant access to my photos through a cell phone has enhanced my creativity a lot. I can be visiting a place and simply whip out my photo album as soon as I get an idea.” When Terry isn’t working or creating, you can find her listening to her vinyl collection, watching Liverpool football, entertaining her corgi, at antique car shows, exploring her environment, and traveling. To learn more about Terry, come visit her at Damico Frame & Art Gallery or call 615-815-6015.
