When it comes to printing materials, any paper is a personal choice for your art. If you are trying to get the best, most vibrant colors shown in your artwork, one of my favorite methods of printing is the use of Metallic paper.

Many artists used brushed aluminum for a polished, contemporary feel. The issue with brushed aluminum is lighting. In certain settings, especially a gallery lit setting, the images colors can look dull on aluminum. The light will also bounce off of the brushed aluminum that will warp the artwork. This only diminishes your beautiful images. Metallic paper is the best alternative for that sleek, vibrant image you are looking for.

The best thing about Metallic paper is the accurate and vivid color you are trying to achieve in printing. If you are printing a piece with dramatic contrast or illumination, this paper is the best option. The following quote is from Gallery Director, Blair Hayes, explains the use of Metallic Paper for proper color: “I suggested using LexJet’s Sunset Photo Metallic Paper, due to its large color gamut and outstanding ability to illuminate. Also, we found that laminating the printed pieces accentuates the unique characteristics of the media by seemingly magnifying the light coming in, reflecting a more saturated color experience.” Damico Frame & Printing uses the same LexJet Sunset Metallic Paper for all our Metallic printing. When a customer has a piece that demands bright saturated colors, this paper is always the best option.

Along with the vibrant colors, the pearlescent finish creates even more of a contrast between darker and lighter colors.
